INFRASTRUCTURE

Iloilo has good infrastructure. There is one airport. Roads are rather small because Iloilo is an old city (established in 1890) but nevertheless it's extensive. There are four sea ports in the city. One international seaport, one domestic port located near Fort San Pedro, one River wharf serving Iloilo-Bacolod routes and one small dock for small ferries going to the island of Guimaras. Cell sites are all over the metro area. There are also good bridges that connect the Iloilo River. Recently, a flyover has been built along Gen. Luna St. to help decongest the traffic in the area.

TRANSPORTATION

Cebu Pacific Air, Air Philippines and Philippine Airlines fly to and from Iloilo on an average of 28 flights per day. Iloilo is also part of the 919-kilometer Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) where roll-on roll-off vessels cover towns, cities and islands. Inter-island vessels are also available for both passengers and cargo to neighboring provinces and towns.

Getting around Iloilo is made possible by public buses and jeepneys from north and south passenger terminals. Metered taxis are also available at most hotels, shopping centers and ports. Car and van rentals are also available in major hotels.

COMMUNICATION

phoneThe presence of advanced telecommunications infrastructure not only makes the Philippines readily accessible through the Internet, but also allows investors to ignore limitations imposed by the inadequacy of physical infrastructure. Iloilo’s economy benefits from the presence of key players in the telecommunications industry, which provide the necessary “info-structure” for commerce.

Available communication services in Iloilo are: telephone services including domestic and international direct dial, facsimile; mobile communications, internet, telegraph and telex stations, post offices and other messengerial and courier services.

There are three (3) telephone service providers in Iloilo providing landline connections to almost all of the municipalities. These are: PLDT, INNOVE and BayanTel. These companies are capable of providing fiber optic, copper and microwave T1 and E1 lines.

Cellular telephone facilities are also provided by three (3) cellular companies namely SMART Communications, Globe and Sun Cellular
